Oracle Academy at KGEC: Your Free Path to Database, Java and Cloud Skills

Every app runs on data

Whether it is a banking app, a railway booking site or a hospital record system, behind it sits a database and code that talks to it. Strong SQL and Java skills remain some of the most requested basics in campus interviews, and they are the foundation for almost every software role.

KGEC is now a member of Oracle Academy, Oracle's global education programme for schools and colleges. It brings Oracle's own course material, software and cloud tools into our classrooms at no cost to students. As a KGEC alumnus, I want to make sure every current student knows about it and uses it.

What Oracle Academy gives you

Structured courses. Learn step by step through courses such as Database Foundations, Database Design and Programming with SQL, Programming with PL/SQL, Java Foundations and Java Programming, plus courses on Oracle Cloud and AI.

Your own cloud database. Oracle APEX gives you a personal workspace in the Oracle Database Cloud. You can write SQL, design tables and build complete web apps, like a student portal or an inventory tracker, from any browser.

Oracle Cloud access. Through the Oracle Academy Cloud Program, you can explore Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for hands-on cloud learning.

Career content. The Oracle Academy Student Hub includes career-focused learning modules you can explore beyond class.

A step towards certification. The courses line up with Oracle certifications in areas such as SQL, Java and Oracle Cloud, so completing a course puts you in a strong position to take the exam.

Your teachers are with you

You do not have to figure this out alone. Your KGEC teachers bring Oracle Academy into the subjects you already study, especially DBMS and Object Oriented Programming. They send you the invitation to join a course, walk you through your first APEX workspace, and explain the concepts behind each lab.

When a query fails or your Java code will not compile, they help you find out why. They review the apps you build, give you feedback, and guide you when you are ready to aim for a certification.

Your first steps

  1. Ask your DBMS or Java teacher which Oracle Academy course is running this semester.
  2. Keep your official KGEC email ID ready; your invitation arrives there.
  3. Accept the invitation and sign in to the Oracle Academy Student Hub.
  4. Work through the lessons, practise every lab in APEX, and finish the quizzes.
  5. Build one small app of your own and add it to your CV.
